Bursary/Scholarship

Klintiendharm Foundation offers financial assistance to students at the International Buddhist College (IBC).

Starting from AY2017/18, for residential B.A. and M.A. students, the scholarship granted is up to USD 5,918 and not less than USD 4,570 per student per academic year. The scholarship and bursary awarded will be determined by Grade Performance Average (GPA) from Academic and Conduct grade from each individual student of the previous academic year. The following scholarships/ Bursary are for residential students who stay in the Sadao campus only.

B.A. Program Bursary/ Scholarship
New students who are successful in their application for financial assistance will receive Bursary amounting to 144,000 THB (USD 4,570).
Total educational expenses is 148,000 THB including tuition fees (83,000 THB), hostel fees (44,000 THB)(for 11 months), international fees (20,000 THB) and student club fees (1,000 THB).
New students who are successful in their application for financial assistance will receive Bursary amounting to 144,000 THB and required to pay remaining fees of 4,000 THB. Students will be rewarded with 4,000 THB when they complete their studies.

For Second, Third and Final Year, it is based on previous academic year Average Grade Point of Academic and Conduct grade:
1) 3.26 and above GPA will be granted Scholarship ‘A’ of 160,000 THB. All fees paid from the scholarship and a living allowance of 12,000 THB that would be remitted on a monthly basis at 1,500 THB over 8 months for two semesters.
2).2.76 and above GPA will be granted Scholarship ‘B’ of 152,000. All fees paid from the scholarship and a living allowance of 4,000 THB that would be remitted on a monthly basis at 500 THB over 8 months for two semesters.
3) Below 2.76 GPA will be granted Bursary of 144,000 THB. Student has to pay remaining fees of 4,000 THB only, the balance will be paid from the bursary.

M.A. Program Bursary/ Scholarship
New students who are successful in their application for financial assistance will receive Bursary amounting to 168,500 THB. (USD 5,347).
Total educational expenses are 174,500 THB including tuition fees (109,500 THB), hostel fees (44,000 THB)(for 11 months), international fees (20,000 THB) and student club fees (1,000 THB).
Students are required to pay remaining fees of 6,000 THB. Students will be rewarded with 6,000 THB when they complete their studies.

For final Year, it is based on previous academic year Average Grade Point of academic and conduct grade:
1) 3.41 and above GPA will be granted Scholarship ‘A’ of 186,500 THB. All fees paid from the scholarship and a living allowance of 12,000 THB that would be remitted on a monthly basis at 1,500 THB over 8 months for two semesters.
2) 3.01 and above GPA will be granted Scholarship ‘B’ of 178,500 THB. All fees paid from the scholarship and a living allowance of 4,000 THB that would be remitted on a monthly basis at 500 THB over 8 months for two semesters.
3)Below 3.00 GPA will be granted Bursary of 168,500 THB. Student has to pay remaining fees of 6,000 THB only. the balance will be paid from the bursary.

Dean’s List & Warden’s List (Academic and Conduct Recognition)
1) Dean’s Award for semester: Average Academic GPA of 3.76 or above, student will receive a certificate plus 1,000 THB cash award.
2) Warden’s Award for semester: Average Conduct GPA of 3.76 or above, student will receive a certificate plus 1,000 THB cash award.

The student has enrolled as full-time student and be graded on minimum of 3 courses in MA or 5 courses in BA (with credits). The student has completed all courses on time. And conduct grade of 3.01 in the semester.

The criteria for the Dean’s and Warden’s List are liable to revisions and the Foundation reserves the right, to increase or make modifications to the terms and conditions of the Dean’s List and Warden’s List award without prior notice.

Ph.D Program Bursary/ Scholarship
New students who are successful in their application for financial assistance will receive Bursary amounting to 220,800THB. (USD 7,007).
Total educational expenses are 232,800 THB including tuition fees (145,800 THB), hostel fees (66,000 THB)(for 11 months), international fees (20,000 THB) and student club fees (1,000 THB).
Students are required to pay remaining fees of 12,000 THB. Students will be rewarded with 12,000 THB when they complete their studies.

For second year and final Year, it is based on the progress of dissertation:
1) Amount of Scholarship ‘A’ is 248,800 THB. All fees paid from the scholarship and a living allowance of 16,000 THB that would be remitted on a monthly basis at 2,000 THB over 8 months for two semesters.

2) Amount of Scholarship ‘B’ is 236,800 THB. All fees paid from the scholarship and a living allowance of 4,000 THB that would be remitted on a monthly basis at 500 THB over 8 months for two semesters.

3) Amount of Bursary is 220800 THB. Total educational expenses are 232,800 THB. Students are required to pay remaining fees of 12,000 THB.

The above Scholarships and Bursary scale is liable to revisions and the Foundation reserves the right, to increase or make modifications to the terms and conditions of the Scholarships and bursary without prior notice.
The above Scholarships and Bursary are applied to residential students only.

Submission of Application Form
1. The Bursary Committee will review each application and the relevant supporting documents which include the student's application form, the autobiography, the recommendation letter by a temple abbot or equivalent. If the committee approves the application, the applicant will be notified in writing.
2. Please attach together with the application form a recommendation letter written by either a temple abbot or equivalent together with a brief self-introduction and all certified true copies of relevant certificates and awards that you may have been granted.
3. The Scholarship/ Bursary is granted to students until they complete their program. However, in the event if the bursary holder should show very poor conduct and academic performance, the bursary may be revoked and terminated after one semester upon decision deliberated by the Bursary committee.
