Prof. Dr. Kapila Abhayawansa

Prof. Kapila Abhayawansa specialised in Pāli, Sanskrit, Sinhala, Buddhist Philosophy, Buddhist Vinaya, Western and Indian Philosophy. He obtained a Master of Philosophy (Banaras Hindu university, India) and a Doctor of Philosophy (University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka). He was a lecturer and head of the department of Buddhist Culture at the Postgraduate Institute of Pāli and Buddhist Studies at the University of Kelaniya. In addition, he was a visiting lecturer at various universities in Sri Lanka and abroad. Prof. Kapila has published more than fifteen academic books and more than a hundred academic articles.
Currently, he is the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Dean of the Faculty of Religious Studies and regular professor at the International Buddhist College.
