Signing MOU with Mahidol University

On August 07, 2012, at 9.00am, in Kan Pai Conference Room of Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Mahidol University of Thailand, a Memorandum of Understanding had been signed between the International Buddhist College (IBC) and the PhD in Buddhist Studies Program, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities. IBC was represented by Prof. Kapila Abhayawansa, the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of Mahidol University was represented by Assoc. Prof. Wariya Chinwanno, Dean of Faculty.

Both institutions had agreed to encourage exchange and visits of graduate students, non-teaching and post-graduate fellows, junior and senior faculty members. Further, the exchange of teaching and learning information and materials in the area of interest to both institutions also became one of the most important agendas for the MOU. Besides, both institutions emphasized on organizing joint academic activities, such as conferences, seminars and some other academic events, including joint research activities and publications whenever possible.

After the ceremony, Asst. Prof. Pathompong Bodhiprasiddhinand, the Head of Program of PhD in Buddhist Studies together with his team members: Asst Prof Pagorn Singsuriya, Dr Sukhumpong Jannuwongse, Dr Mattia Salvini, Dr Giuliano Giustarini have had a discussion session with Prof Kapila Abhayawansa and his team members from IBC, namely Prof Tilak Kariyawasam, Dean of Graduate School, Ven Zhen Chan, Director for Administrative Affairs and Ven Sengchoy Inthachack, Student Affairs Officer. The members from both institutions had a fruitful discussion on the matters of the future academic collaboration. The meeting ended with having lunch at International College of Mahidol University at 11.00am.
