Trip to Malaysia 31/7/10-2/8/10
Along the way to Penang, I saw the long (13 km.) and beautiful bridge which we crossed and we had good view of Penang Island. I think It is attractive to the tourists. It reminded me of Hong Kong Island. When we reached the Georgetown, I saw the mix of buildings of both west and east. It's interesting.
When I arrived Than Hsiang Temple, I saw the decorated floats for the procession and many people were waiting to see, from children to elders, even the handicapped. This is the same scenes as the festival in Thailand.
On the 2nd day, we went out for a tour around Penang, the 1st place is Kek Lok Si temple, with the spectacular Guan Yin statue. Then, we went to eat "Chicken rice" at a famous shop. After that we went to Batu Ferringhi Beach. Not forgot to have shopping at the shopping mall too.
We went back to have dinner at Than Hsiang Temple at 7.00 pm. We had a meeting with Ven Wei Wu, the abbot of Than Hsiang Temple and the founder of IBC. He talked about the history of Than Hsiang Temple and IBC. He also talked about the relationship of Thai and Malaysian people in history. He has a good vision in many things: to run many projects in Than Hsiang, such as kindergarten, old folk's home, metta clinic, kindergarten in Thailand and etc.
Although Malaysia is materially developed but Ven. Wei Wu still encourages many people to cultivate their mind with buddhism. I'm proud to be a staff of IBC and I'm willing to develop IBC just like Than Hsiang.
On the last day, we went to visit a smaller scale Than Hsiang Kindergarten at Sungai Ara, Than Hsiang Jing Yuan at Sungai Petani, Bujang Valley. After that we went back to IBC.
