Chinese New Year Celebration 2017
Chinese New Year is also known as Spring Festival in China, where most people go back to their hometown to celebrate with their family members. The celebration lasts more than 15 days. During the festival many cultural activities are arranged, such as setting off firecrackers, ancestor worship, visiting temples, and dragon dances. The main traditional celebrations of the festival include eating reunion dinner with family, giving red envelopes to pass on best wishes.
In IBC, we started the celebration on 24th January 2017, the ceremony started at 10.00 am with paying homage to the Triple Gem. Ven Zhen Ti was invited to give a speech on the culture and meaning for the celebration. In this auspicious celebration Professor Jamspa gives an offering to all our students and Sangha members red packet and lunch dana. Theravada and Chinese Chanting was carry out in the celebration.
At 7.00 pm, IBC started the celebration with a Chinese Changting of blessing to wish everyone peace in mind and body. Follow by watching the CCTV Gala show from China. Some students sent instant message greetings to their family members and friends, and cyber money gifts was received. During the celebration snacks, cakes, fruits and beverage was served too.
