On 1st October, 2020, at 9.00 am, in the Pali Chanting Hall, the International Buddhist College (IBC) held a solemn Mid-Autumn Dharma Assembly in conjunction with the auspicious full moon Mid-Autumn festival.

This is actually a great opportunity to dedicate and transfer merits to the deceased, including those who had passed away due to the COVID-19 pandemic and natural disasters, and also for our beloved ancestors and family members, radiating our loving-kindness and compassion for world peace and welfare.

At 7.30 pm, all of us gathered in front of IBC's schoolyard to warmly welcome the Mid-Autumn Festival.

This is one of the important traditional festivals celebrated in the Asian countries of China, Japan, Vietnam, Korea, etc. The Mid-Autumn Festival is held on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month with the full moon at night. This is an opportunity for family members to visit and share everything in the year together.

And at IBC too, we come together from different countries, but in the sacred country of Thailand, each of us is a member of a large family, the IBC family.

According to Venerable Dr. Zhen Chan, “we are different in language, culture, tradition, but our aim is the same, it is to cultivate to attain enlightenment, liberation from samsara. You know, our lives are the same. Sometimes it's soothing. Sometimes there are obstacles. Let's see that as our challenge. When we get over it, we will have precious life experiences, and so keep this in mind, that never give up on that wonderful opportunity, buddy!”
