Invitation to Magha Puja Celebration, 23 February B.E. 2556

To commemorate the event of the Māgha Pūjā, the International Buddhist College is organising a celebration in cooperation with the Pak Thong Chai citizens. The celebration includes a blessing ceremony, an offering for the monastic Sangha, a Lamp lighting ceremony, community service activities and a vegetarian meal provision.

Māgha Pūjā is one of three Buddhist solemnities in Thailand; the other two are Visākha and
Asāḷha. It is celebrated on the full moon day in Māgha month of lunar calendar (normally falls in
February) in order to commemorate the great assembly of Arahant-sāvaka at Veḷuvana Monastery, Magadh. It happened in the 9th month after the Buddha’s enlightenment.

Program:
09:00 am. Arrival of guests and participants in IBC Chanting hall.
09:09 am. Paying homage to Triple Gem, observing Five Precepts and Pali Paritta chanting.
10:00 am. Chinese chanting.
10:45 am. Offering dāna to Monastic Sangha, listening to Dhamma talk.
11:30 am. Offering meal to monastic Sangha.
11:45 am. Luncheon for guests and participants.
11:50 am. Performances by students/Stage performances.
12:30 pm. Chanting competition.
