(June 8, 2011, Pak Thong Chai) International Buddhist College and Klintiendharm Foundation ('fragrant sandalwood') held a second Metta Free Clinic at IBC Korat Education Centre in Pak Thong Chai from 5 - 8 June. This follow-up clinic was held after the first clinic proved to be such a success which was held in mid February. There was a total number of 670 patient visits over the four days of our community project. The IBC clinic was very well received by the local villages and the campus was a hive of activity.
The seven-member Metta Clinic team, headed by Dr Wu Guo Qiang from Penang, Malaysia arrived on the 4th of June, 2011. The Chinese traditional medical doctors opened the clinic at 8.30am until 4.00pm each day.
IBC would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the hard work and commitment of Dr Wu Guo Qiang and his team. We extend our gratitude with a deep appreciation to all sponsors and volunteers.
The Metta Mobile Clinic Malaysia provided the seven-member team and all treatments and medications required.
P-ice factory, Pak Thong Chai sponsored the airfare for the medical team and ice for the clinic patients.
Volunteers from the local community and the IBC teachers, students and staff worked enthusiastically and dedicated a huge amount of time and effort throughout the four day clinic.
The village heads, local radio broadcasts and IBC staff pooled their resources to make an announcement of the impending four day free clinic starting on June 5. The clinic enjoyed a high percentage of patient revisits and patient recommendations.
The Metta Free Clinic has proven to be a winning success and with the commitment of the local community and IBC working together. We look forward to working in partnership on future project that enhances the life style of the local community.
