Buddha's First Sermon celebration and the Rainy Retreat (Vassa)

IBC celebrates the "Asalha Pūja" on 24th July 2010 commemorating the Buddha's first sermon in the Deer Park in Benares and the founding of the Buddhist Sangha.

The day was observed in association with the Rainy Retreat (Vassa) ceremony at IBC. All the local members of IBC, included children and parents from Kawaii Kindergarten and Klintiendharm Weekend School took part in this merit making ceremony and observed the Five Precepts (Pa├▒cas─½la).

The monastic Sangha members chanted Pali and Chinese Sutra, while the local people listened to the dhamma talk by the Sangha members. The local people offered robes and gifts to the Sangha members at the end of the ceremony.
