Celebrating Her Majesty Queen Sirikit's Birthday and the National Mother's Day
( IBC August 9, 2008 ) Faculty, students and staff of International Buddhist College and Klintiendharm Foundation, together with the weekend school children and their parents from the communities around IBC celebrated the birthday of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, lovingly adopted as Mother of all Thais, and the National Mother's Day.
The celebration began with blessings and multitraditional chantings from the international sangha in IBC. The multinational and multitraditional chanting began with the Theravada tradition by monks from Thailand, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Sri Lanka. This was followed by Chinese Mahayana chanting by monks and nuns from Malaysia and China; and finally Korean Mahayana chanting by the nuns from Korea. Also present were the monks, nuns and lay students and staff from Vietnam, Australia, Malaysia, and Thailand.
Celebration continued with felicitation speeches; display of the life and works of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit; and other cultural activities.
