Studying Buddhism in ASEAN: At the Present and Future
The Faculty of Philosophy, Religion and Theology, NRRU organized a bilingual (Thai and English) seminar on “Studying Buddhism in ASEAN: At the Present and Future” on August 17, 2013. There were more than 200 participants, including teaching and supporting staff, as well as students from NRRU, Mahamakut Buddhist University (MBU) and M.A. students of IBC.
The seminar had been divided into 2 sessions. In the morning session a public lecture was given by Asst Prof. Pattambong Photiprasitnun, Chairman of program development committee of Doctor of Philosophy Buddhist Studies Program (International Program), Mahidol University (MHU). In the afternoon session, four panelists from 3 universities have been invited to share and exchange their knowledge about the topic “Studying Buddhism in ASEAN at the Present and Future”. Prof. Tilak Kariyawasam and Ven. Zhen Chan represented IBC as panelist, besides another two academicians, Asst. Prof. Prayong Buran and Asst. Prof. Apiwat Phosan from Khon Kean University and Mahasarakham University respectively. IBC staff, Ms Phanommas was invited to be a translator at the seminar.
A vote of thanks to NRRU for organizing such as a meaningful event. IBC looks forward to tighten the frontier and academic cooperation with NRRU, particularly Faculty of Philosophy, Religion and Theology.
