Ushering in the New and Academically Exciting 2007/2008 Academic Year
The new academic year that began in mid-July, 2007 looks exciting as IBC blazes a trail of carefully planned fast-track and purposeful growth in its academic program and services in Buddhadharma education for the good of the many.
IBC is peopled by a dedicated and committed faculty and student community that is further enriched with its diversity in traditions, cultures and nationals from Asia, Europe and the Americas: Argentina, Bangladesh, Belgium, Cambodia, Canada, China, India, Ireland, Laos, Malaysia, Nepal, Russia, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam and United States.

Academic programs and services are also expanded and diversified this year. The recently approved new international postgraduate program, Ph. D. in Buddhist Studies will be offered in November, 2007. It will be offered in English and Chinese medium. M.A. and B.A. programs continue as usual, together with the English language intensive program. For details on these programs, see:

It is a 48-credit program, conducted in English and Chinese languages.
- minimal entry qualification: M.A. degree in any discipline; preferably with background knowledge or concentrations or experience in Buddhadharma studies or work.
- Plans of Study: two plans of study, Plan I of coursework (12 credits) and a thesis (36 credits); and Plan II of thesis only (48 credits).
- Duration: Minimum duration of residency study is 5 regular semesters and maximum duration for the completion of the Program is 6 years for entry at M.A. level.

It is a 36-credit program, conducted in English and Chinese languages.
- minimal entry qualification: B.A. degree in any discipline; preferably with background knowledge or concentrations or experience in Buddhadharma studies or work.
- Plans of Study: two plans of study, Plan I of coursework (33 credits) and a 3-credit independent sudy (total of 36 credits); and Plan II of 24-credit course work and a 12-credit thesis (total of 36 credits).
- Duration: 3 regular semesters and maximum duration for the completion of the Program is 4 years.

It is a 4-year 141-credit program, conducted in English medium.

The main purpose of the program is to train and prepare students for entry into English medium undergraduate program.
