IBC jointly launched the project of Teaching & Learning ASEAN Language
International Buddhist College (IBC) and Pakthongchaiprachaniramit School (PTCS) jointly launched the project of Teaching & Learning ASEAN Language at PTCS. The opening ceremony took place on May 29, 2013 at PTCS with the presence of Ven. Zhen Chan, the Director for Administrative Affairs of IBC, and Mr. Ekkachat Truatnork, the Director of PTCS. Around 200 teachers and 3,000 students participated at the ceremony.
In his opening speech, Ven. Zhen Chan highlighted the importance and the significance of learning various languages and exploring the unique culture of ASEAN. He gave his warm encouragement to all the young learners at PTCS to cherish the opportunity of learning through this project. Furthermore he said, that IBC will always give its support, particularly in various teaching-learning projects under ASEAN endeavor, which are recently actively promoted by Thai government.
The project aims to offer basic conversation and daily usage dialogues to the students of PTCS and to prepare the students for the ASEAN community (especially ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) which will be established in 2015). In addition, IBC aims to channel the project as academic service to community/external body as well. The project commenced from May 29, 2013 till September 18, 2013.
There are seven languages to be taught to the students at PTCS, i.e. Myanmar, Lao, Cambodian, Vietnamese, Bahasa Melayu, Chinese, and Korean. IBC is responsible in providing the respective native speakers of the languages listed above.
IBC likes to express its appreciation to those who are voluntarily involved in this project, namely Ms Phanommas as a co-ordinator of the project on IBC behalf; Mr Sengchoy, Ven. Khamvilay, Ven. Xaixana, Mr. Khamrin, Ven. Khen Sokheng, Ms. Fang Xiao Guo, Ms. Lee Kibbeum, Ms. Heo Eunju, Ms. Heo Jungmin, Mr. Lee Chang Yun, Ven. Shin Pandava, Ven. Ashin Fussadhaza, Ven. Tam Tien, Ven. Yong Hua and Ven. Zhi Hui as the language teachers for their kind commitment to make this project into success.
