Election of Student Club Committee Members of 2016

The nomination and election of the new committee members of the Student Club took place on 15/1/2016 (Friday) at Dana Classroom. The meeting began with a welcoming remark by Ven. Zhen Ti. She informed the gathering that the major purpose of the meeting was to elect those who are interested and willing to hold the responsibility as the new Committee Members of Student Club.

Professor Kapila was then invited to make an introductory statement before the election of the new committee members began. In his statement, Professor Kapila highlighted the importance of the Student Club. He congratulated the committee members of 2015 for a successful start and expressed his hope that the new committee can make the Club even more vibrant. He said that the Student Club is an integral part of IBC and must strive to bring out the best in IBC through its Club activities.

The former Vice President of the Student Club, Ven. Wajiraseeha was asked to share his experience for the benefits of the new members. He shared about what the former Committee did to the best of their abilities and he wished that vibrant candidates could be elected for the new committee to ensure the continuous survival of the club.

After a long nomination process, the following new members were elected and endorsed:

President : Ven. Peng Sary (Cambodia)
Vice President : Ven. Kundala (Myanmar)
Secretary : Ms. Chimi Wangmo (Bhutan)
Treasurer : Ms. Nopparat (Thailand)
Member : Ven. Dipu Barua (Bangladesh)
Member : Ven. Dhammawasa (Sri Lanka)
Member : Ven. James (Malaysia)

The meeting adjourned with a brief statement from each of the newly elected Members. They shared their aspirations and pledged that they would live up to the expectations of the Student Club and IBC.
