IBC’s Family Celebrate Mooncake Festival
On September 22, 2017 evening, as our founder – Ven. Master Wei Wu, IBC’s rector – Professor Dr. Charles William, and all of our Faculty staffs and lecturers IBC Student Club members initiative took an opportunity to organized an early mooncake celebration with our students.
Just like any common mooncake celebration, we gathered in front of the office to share our feeling, kindled lanterns, and had a small party. But the special thing that made the date to be more interesting and clearly demonstrated IBC’s style was whirling lanterns by Ven. Master Wei Wu. Honestly, as the students, we had no idea that the action reflects any meaning or just for fun. However, as bias thought, if we swirl a lantern without blowing out a candle then it will become a meditating game and send the inspiring message: ‘Act in calm, faith, and steady.’ Obviously, this is one of the qualities that a Buddhist disciple need to have on the part of preaching the doctrine. Besides that, the action seemed simple but as long as everybody was enjoy and happy, we can consider that the action is holly action along with daily life will have less troubles and more comfort by living with a pure mind. Thus, if you are currently in a tough time or need some supports, we encourage you to participate in such activities in purpose of cultivating your understanding to better your life as well as bringing people closer and closer. Since the above message has been received, the celebration was successful and committed the meaning of mooncake festival: ‘Make ourselves at home, share our hearts, and be relative.’
