The 18th Convocation Ceremony of International Buddhist College (IBC)

The International Buddhist College held its 18th Convocation on 28 September 2025 (Sunday) at IBC Auditorium Hall at 1:00 p.m. (Thai time). After some announcements made by the emcee in English and Chinese, the auspicious event began with the striking of drums and bells. Soon after, the procession of Academic Staff and Graduands entered the hall.

This year, many distinguished guests and their family members attended the grand graduation ceremony. The ceremony began with a speech by the Chairman of IBC Council, the Most Venerable Dr. Wei Wu.

Ven. Dr. Wei Wu expressed his appreciation to Dr. Fa Qing and the late Chu Pao Chu, Ven. Dr. Zhen Yuan's sister for supporting IBC since the beginning. He also thanked all faculty members for their dedicated service and urged the public to continue to support IBC, which runs Buddhist education. Besides congratulating the graduates, he also requested them to provide feedback on weaknesses so that the management team and faculty staff can improve on these. Furthermore, he also asked them to share IBC's strengths with their friends to help IBC recruit good students in the future.

Subsequently, the Rector of IBC, Assoc. Professor Mattia Salvini delivered his speech. He recited and briefly discussed a Sanskrit verse that highlights the importance of learning with proper motivation, rather than engaging in arguments and complications for their own sake. He also made the audience repeat the word "tattva" three times.

The Honorable Rector then conferred the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), Master of Arts (M.A.), and Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degrees, as well as the Postgraduate Certificate in Buddhist Studies, Postgraduate Certificate in Counseling, Certificate in Counseling, and Certificate of Attendance in Counseling.

Dr. Fa Qing, Dean of Graduate School, read out the list of names of Ph.D. and M.A. graduands; while Dr. Ooi Eng Jin, Dean of Faculty of Buddhist Studies, read out the names of BA graduands, Postgraduate Certificate in Buddhist Studies, Postgraduate Certificate in Counseling, Certificate in Counseling, and Certificate of Attendance in Counseling recipients.

Next, Venerable Dr. Wei Wu, the Chairman of IBC Council, presented the Award of Outstanding Academic and Conduct Performance to Ms. Zar Zar Tun.

Speeches of appreciation were delivered by Ms. Zar Zar Tun in English and Ven. Jing Zhi in Chinese, respectively. Next, it was a memorable moment to have the Rector of IBC, Assoc. Professor Mattia Salvini, sign off on the “Register of Graduates”. The convocation ceremony ended with the IBC Theme Song “For The Good of The Many”. This was followed by a group photo session, and refreshments were also served.
