Thank You for Your Dedication (Part II)

Reported by: BA2 students
Fundamentals of Speech and Communication was a subject in the 1st semester of the BA 2nd year, 2025-2026. The collaboration between internal and external experienced instructors for this course had brought a lot of benefits to us. The external instructors involved were Mdm. Lye Keok Wah, Mdm. Lim Wai Lee, Mdm. H’ng Siew Tuan, and Sis. Wong Ping Ling. Some of the related topics covered were PACC (Purpose, Audience, Context of Culture, Context of Situation), email writing, paragraph development, public speaking skills and ethics in public speaking.

Ven. Ananda Thero:
Learning public speaking from the Malaysian English teachers was a truly valuable experience for us. They did not only teach us techniques, but they also encouraged us to express our thoughts and feelings with confidence. Through their guidance, we learned how to organize our ideas clearly, speak with purpose, and present ourselves in a professional manner. Their teaching style was friendly, patient, and supportive, which helped us overcome our fear of speaking in front of others. Due to their efforts, we now feel more prepared to use English in real situations.
We sincerely appreciate their dedication and the time they spent helping us improve our skills.

Ven. Mongmongsing Marma:
PACC was taught by Mdm. Lim Wai Lee, who came from Singapore. We learned how important it is to communicate with others through PACC. In my point of view, this was one of the most important lessons for us. Sister Ping Ling taught us how to write an effective email. A student needs to communicate with others formally or informally.
We learned public speaking skills from Mdm. Lye Keok Wah. She taught us how necessary communication is, as well as the skills of public speaking. The Ethics in Public Speaking lesson was one of the most important in this course, taught by Mdm. H’ng Siew Tuan.
Finally, we are thankful to our lecturer as well as all the assistant teachers. All of them used their best efforts to teach us. We learned and improved our skills in communication from the teachers. We learned how to share our feelings, thoughts, purpose, and ideas with others. All the teachers were patient, friendly, and supportive. I personally believe the skills learned will be helpful to me in the future.

Ven. Anik Barua
Thank you so much for the amazing Fundamentals of Speech and Communication lessons.
I really appreciate how clearly you taught us. As a result of your help, I now feel more confident when I speak in front of people. From your lessons, I learnt so many new things, and this will be very helpful for my future. You have taught us how to write effective emails, paragraph development and most importantly, PACC. All of you individually guide us on how to use PACC to develop our writing and public speaking skills. This is very important for us. I am really grateful. You have spent your valuable time on us.
You all made the learning process easy and fun! Thank you so much again!

Ven. Ananno Barua,
As I reflect on my experience in EN106: Fundamentals of Speech and Communication, I recognize how valuable this course has been.
Guided by Ven. Dr. Zhen Ti and supported by dedicated assistant teachers, each lesson strengthened my communication skills in meaningful ways. Mdm. Lim Wai Lee’s PACC sessions deepened my understanding of interpersonal communication, while Ms. Wong Ping Ling helped me develop effective email writing skills.
Public speaking became clearer and more structured through Mdm. Lye Keok Wah’s lessons, and Mdm. H’ng Siew Tuan emphasized the importance of ethics in communication.
I sincerely appreciate the patience, encouragement, and professionalism of all our teachers. Their guidance has enhanced my confidence and will continue to support my future communication journey.

Yang Xueqin:
We were fortunate to have experienced teachers instructing us on effective public speaking, incorporating ethical principles. They came from Malaysia, specifically to give us lectures. They designed the lessons very effectively and interestingly. They showed us the kinds of communication that are effective and attractive. Sometimes they performed dramatically in order to help us understand the points better. We really enjoyed their classes and learned how to communicate in different contexts. With their patience and care, all of us knew better about ourselves from the feedback. We also received suggestions on how to improve ourselves. Sincerely speaking, I felt that in this class, there was respect and loving-kindness between the teachers and students. We are deeply grateful for all the teachers' dedication.
