Field visit to Vientiane, Laos

On the 10th of May, an International Buddhist College (IBC) representative, Dr. Ooi Eng Jin, Dean of Faculty of Buddhist Studies, visited two Buddhist monastic high schools in Vientiane, Laos: Dongdok Buddhist High School and Sokpalung Buddhist High School.

The objective is to promote collaboration and present the IBC academic programs to students. The IBC programs may be particularly beneficial for monastic students, as IBC offers training in the reading of Buddhist primary texts in their original languages, including Pāli, Sanskrit, Classical Chinese, and Tibetan. Furthermore, as a non-sectarian institution, IBC provides exposure to various Buddhist traditions, thereby broadening the students' understanding of the Buddhist world.

The visit was organized by IBC and hosted by our own IBC alumni, Xayalath, Silar, and Chanh, who have achieved success in their careers since graduation; one is an entrepreneur in real estate, while the others hold executive positions in international organizations.

The trip has proven to be fruitful and productive. We would like to express our sincere appreciation to all members who contributed directly or indirectly to the success of this trip.
