Vegetarian Festival

Reported by Ganeshwari Netam (MA1 student)
On October 13, 2026, we visited the Vegetarian Festival in Khlong Ngae arranged by the International Buddhist College (IBC). The festival started at 11:20 AM. We went there to see the festival and learn about Thai culture and traditions. First, we visited a Thai Buddhist temple and witnessed the religious activities there. We learned about Buddhist traditions and gained a deeper understanding of the temple’s significance within the local community. After visiting the temple, we enjoyed a variety of vegetarian dishes. There were many different types of vegetables and delicious vegetarian foods to choose from. We got to see and taste a variety of dishes. We enjoyed the food very much and had a wonderful experience.

The festival provided a valuable opportunity to experience how people come together to celebrate their traditions, preserve their cultural heritage, and share their food with others. The local people were very kind and friendly. They welcomed visitors warmly and made us feel comfortable. I particularly appreciated the way they treated everyone with respect and kindness. The festival allowed us to interact with the local community and learn more about their culture, traditions, and way of life. Overall, it was a truly enriching experience for me. I thoroughly enjoyed visiting the Buddhist temple, sampling a variety of delicious vegetarian dishes, and learning about Thai culture and local customs. I also learned that festivals are a good way to bring people together and share happiness. I felt grateful to have attended the Vegetarian Festival, and it will remain a cherished memory for me.

I would like to thank International Buddhist College (IBC) for organizing this trip for us. I hope we will get more opportunities to join such activities in the future.
